IMMEDIATE Job Opportunity: Citizenship Organizer

OCCORD is looking for a full-time Citizenship Organizer with passion for immigrant rights, economic & social justice. An ideal candidate should have a good grasp of immigration issues/discussions at the national level and also in Orange County. S/He should be a fast learner and self-driven and enjoys working in a team setting while taking pride in helping/serving people.

The candidate should be responsible to:

  • Help meet citizenship program goals & deliverables
  • Organize Citizenship Clinics & Fairs
  • Outreach to places of worship, schools, labor unions & neighborhood groups
  • Recruit, Train & Manage volunteers
  • Build new & maintain existing relationships with allies and partners
  • Be able to teach citizenship classes
  • Maintain database[s] of citizenship applicants & volunteers
  • Organize phone banks
  • Give occasional presentations about Immigrant Rights
  • Recruit applicants for Citizenship Fair and Clinics
  • Represent OCCORD in immigration related events & meetings
  • Maintain a healthy inventory of educational materials, citizenship forms and relevant resources
  • Grow the number of citizenship Volunteer Committee members

 

Qualifications

  • Fluency in Spanish is required (read, write, and speak)
  • Must be technically proficient in using Google Docs, Microsoft Office 365, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other office software programs
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a car
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment involving flexible hours, including weekends
  • Ability to work with people from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Self-motivated, with demonstrated ability to work effectively in both independent and collaborative environments
  • Outstanding organizational and communications skills, including ability to interact with a wide-range of audiences
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, organize and prioritize workload for oneself and others
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills
  • Supportive of OCCORD’s mission
  • Familiarity with Nation Builder database is not required but preferred
  • Ability to manage high volume of calls, be able to follow up on pending cases
  • Bachelor’s degree is not required but preferred
