Fernando comes from a background as an educator, having taught English, History, and Media at a middle school for 5 years. He has also worked alongside various grassroots organizations in OC on issues ranging from climate change, housing justice, and the abolition of the prison industrial complex. He joined OCCORD in the summer of 2022 as our Communications Coordinator and is currently serving as our Campaigns Manager. "What gets me excited about working at OCCORD is the power-building that we engage in, working to develop community leaders in communities that have historically been counted out. Seeing the light in people's faces when they realize the power they have through organizing, and helping them channel that power to stand up, speak out and advocate for themselves. I love that. That's exactly the kind of revolutionary action I signed up for."
