Before OCCORD, Ivon was a Civic Engagement Grants and Administrative Coordinator at NALEO Educational Fund. She learned about OCCORD through her previous employer, who also did Citizenship application services. One of her favorite books is This Bridge Called My Back: Writings by Radical Women of Color. When she is not working, she is committed to helping the community and spending quality time with her family. "Our community, so often the cities we serve, specifically, Santa Ana and Anaheim, have been in the shadows of what Orange County actually is. It is seen as an affluent not very diverse county. Our communities are overshadowed by this belief and therefore it is important that our electorate represent our communities, and that our communities are given "a seat at the table."
